Hello Woods Families,

The first week of school was a great success! The pick up/drop off line is moving nicely. Please note that if you are first in line and the chain has not been removed, feel free to take it down, no earlier than 8am. For safety reasons, please remember to exit/enter vehicles on the passenger side during arrival and dismissal.

Here are a few important things to know:

  1. This week was busy with students getting back into the learning groove and being acquainted with new schedules. Today we began our day by practicing our safety procedures. Students learned how to quickly and efficiently respond to a fire drill, a tornado warning, and a lockdown drill.

  2. Thank you to everyone who has already registered and completed the forms online. This is information that needs to be updated annually to confirm emergency contacts, phone number, addresses etc. If you have not completed this step please take the time to do so asap. In addition to registration, there are several forms that need to be updated yearly, including acknowledgement of the Student Handbook, Medical Information, and Photo/Video Opt Out. These forms can be found under the “documents” tab.

  3. Fall sports are upon us! Permission slips / schedules for cross country, soccer, and girls volleyball were sent home this week. Please have all permission slips turned in by the first day of practice. Soccer and Volleyball practice will begin Monday September 9th at 3:30pm and run until 4:30pm. Please pick your child up at the second set of doors.

  4. Sports schedules have been added to our school website! Please navigate to our home page under the explore tab and click on calendar. This will bring you to our calendar where you can find the time and location of all practices and games.

  5. Do you have a hobby you would like to share? We are looking for interested parents / community members who would like to host an after school workshop for our students. Please contact the school office if you are interested.

  6. Next week, students in 3rd-8th grade will be taking our Fall Benchmark Tests in Reading and Math through our iReady testing systems. These tests help guide the individualized learning for each student, so best effort and a good night's rest always make a big difference.

  7. The next Woods PTG meeting will be held Tuesday, September 10th at 6pm in the school library. Our PTG does so much for our school, all are encouraged and welcome to attend.

  8. Save the Date: Woods PTG is hosting an Ice Cream Social on Monday, September 16th from 6-7pm on the school playground. Come visit with friends and make new ones!

Have a great weekend, we will see you Monday!
